The Architectural Design Process
When it comes to building custom homes we only work with the best. That’s why we here at Walker Custom Homes partner with Studio S Architekts for any architectural designs.
We talked to Holly Sanchez, Manager of Studio S Architekts, about what the process is of creating an architectural design plan and what a client should prepare ahead of time for their meeting with their architect.
- Have your list ready
What do you see when you think of your dream home? Record all the factors that first come to mind and add to that list how many bedrooms and bathrooms you would like. This way, your architects have a starting point to the design of your home. Include facts about your lifestyle on your list as well, like if you have kids, or if you work from home. Factors like these are important to how certain rooms and features in your home will look.
- Prepare a Pinterest board
This is where you can get creative. Preparing your Pinterest board with images of your dream home can allow your architect to get a good idea of what you want and how the architectural layout will reflect your ideas.
- Trust the process
A lot of times there will need to be edits and changes to your ideas and the layout, but it’s all a part of the process of getting you your dream home. Doing things like a Sun study, where your architect will see where the sun shines in your home and if it will affect the temperature of your home, can cause changes to your layout, but it ensures your home won’t be too warm in the summer. Trust the process and your architect to make a plan that suits your home.
“Some clients come to us with kind of a puzzle. I really like this bathroom over here and I really like these bedroom configurations right here. But how does that work together? And that’s our job, to make it come together”, says Holly Sanchez. The job of a client is to have an idea of what they want in their dream home. It’s up to the architects to craft a plan that makes it a reality. We here Walker Homes make custom home building easy. We work with the very best to make sure your home is just that, custom to you.
