Once you have purchased your lot, Walker Custom Homes can help you with layout and home placement. There are many factors to consider when building a home on your lot. Slab height, retaining wall necessity, tree clearing, the slope of the property, and much more. The land will determine many factors, so it is ideal to discuss them before deciding on your home’s location.
We will work with you to personalize the features in your home to suit your specific lifestyle, all within your budget. Following this discussion, we will provide you with a detailed estimate.
Walker Homes and Remodeling can walk you through this process if you have not met with an architect to design your dream home. This can be one of the most time-consuming steps in the process and one of the most important. Walker Custom Homes will provide you with a highly qualified architect and be involved through this process.
SIGN A CONTRACT
After selecting your design and customizing it to your needs, it is time to sign a contract. Here is where you’ll review and approve drawings and begin planning for construction, including determining timelines, requesting permits, and preparing the land for building your home.
This is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the home building process. At this point, you will meet with a decorator that will help you to determine all the design aspects of your home. Designing and choosing all the different products, features, etc., for your home, although it can be pretty overwhelming, as you never realize how many different items that need to be chosen, Walker Custom Homes and the provided decorator will walk you through this process to make it as enjoyable as possible.
At this point, permits will be applied for. This process can take 45 to 60 days.
Before construction, a meeting will take place to walk the lot, review all design choices and the plans. The overall build time has many different factors and is dependent on those factors. Therefore, the build time and schedule will be discussed at this time. On average, it can take approximately five weeks per 1,000 square feet of construction under the roof.
When construction is completed, we will walk you through your new home, identify and complete any punch list items, and then hand over keys for you to enjoy your new home.
